Carlos de Sigüenza y Góngora

Carlos de Sigüenza y Góngora was an ordained Catholic priest, (1645-1700)

During the 1680’s Carlos de Sigüenza y Góngora, became a close friend of Juan de Alva Ixtlilxochitl, who put at his disposal a rich collection of documents of his ancestors, who included the historian Fernando de Alva Cortés Ixtlilxochitl and the kings of Texcocoobtained, access to Aztec and Toltec documents.
In his later years he devoted much time to collect material for a history of ancient Mexico.  Thus giving us some information about the original settlers of Mexico.
