The Discovery and Conquest of Mexico
The Discovery & Conquest of Mexico or The History & Conquest of New Spain was written by Bernal Diaz del Castillo in the 1560's in Santiago Guatemala. It was published for the first time in the U.S. in 1908.
Bernal Castillo was one of the Spanish conquistadors with Hernandez Cortes when Cortes entered the Aztec nation of Montezuma in 1519 AD. “This book is one of the main sources for the history of the Conquest.” -
Antiquities of Mexico
The 1st volume of nine books was first published by Lord Edward Kingsborough in England in 1831. They contained copies, facsimile reproductions of Mesoamerican, Maya, Mixtec, & Aztec codices, historical accounts of explorers’ descriptions of archaeological ruin & documents of the Spanish conquest of the Aztec Empire.
